R0 platform fee on direct pay — you pay the locum directly, so nothing is skimmed off the top. iLocum still runs the posting, check-in and completion. Prefer hands-off? Switch any shift to managed per-shift escrow (15% fee, shown below). Agency figure uses 28% commission (conservative end of the 28–35% SA range). Locum professionals keep the full posted rate.
Transparent, added on top — escrow shifts only.
Direct-pay shifts carry no platform fee at all. When you fund a shift through the platform, the escrow fee is calculated on the gross shift amount and added on top — it covers secure payment processing and the escrow protection. Healthcare professionals always see — and earn — their full posted rate. Worked example below.
Example · 12-hour shift at R485/hr (Single tier)
The locum earns the full R5 820 either way — the only difference is the escrow fee and who moves the money.
Direct pay is free. Escrow does the work for you.
Both run on the same platform with the same features — pick per shift. Direct pay is great when you already know the locum; escrow adds protection and takes the payment admin off your plate, which is why most facilities use it for new locums and higher-value shifts.

Direct pay is always R0. These tiers apply only when you fund a shift through escrow.
The questions facilities ask.
Is it really free?
Yes on direct-pay shifts: you pay the locum directly, so R0 platform fee, no subscription and no commission. The only fee is the optional 15% escrow charge if you choose managed payment.
When am I charged?
Only when a locum actually works your shift. Posting is always free; on escrow shifts the 15% fee applies once attendance is verified.
What if a locum no-shows?
On escrow shifts, funds stay held until attendance is confirmed, so you're covered. On direct pay you settle with the locum on your own terms.
Is it POPIA-compliant?
Yes — every shift carries a full audit trail, and professionals are HPCSA / council-verified before they can accept.
